SEPTEMBER 2001

TAVERN 2001

Tavern was a brilliant show this year despite all the difficulties in bringing it together.  The singing and dancing were first rate, and Paul did a very good job as host.  If everyone in the sketches could be word perfect, we would have a show that could be put on anywhere.

Putting on a good show is expensive, and costs were distinctly higher this year.  The last two nights were sold out, but attendance was down on the first Saturday, within Carnival, so overall revenue was down and overall costs were up.  This has resulted in Tavern profits being well below what we regard as normal, which is embarrassing since we always give half the profits to Carnival.  We are still working on the accounts to ascertain how much we will give to Carnival this year.

Panto 2002:  “Over the Moon”

In a modern treatment of a traditional theme, this production contains all the family fun that audiences want to see.  It’s a really good script and we look forward to another Martin Clifton pantomime production.

Auditions are scheduled immediately after Carousel;
Sunday, 28th October in the Bouverie Hall
2:00pm – Junior members
5:00pm – Senior members & Principal Roles

 Theatre Trips:

The trip to see Chicago is sold out, but I have now acquired 25 tickets to see Starlight Express on Thursday 6th December.  Tickets cost £32.00 each and include the round trip by coach from Pewsey to London.

 Starlight is due to finish in the West End on 12th January 2002, so this really is the last chance to see the production in it's original home.  More details about the show can be found HERE.    Please let me know if you’re interested – it’s first come first served.

CAROUSEL

Tickets for our  2001 Musical are on sale already.  This is another expensive production, so it’s vital that we have full houses.  Do please do all you can to promote the show among friends, colleagues and family.

This show is also raising money for charity.  The first night is a Gala Performance and will directly raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation.

BIG RAFFLE PRIZES:

To help raise money, there will be a raffle during the Gala Performance, that has some very serious prizes.  Star prize is a week  in a flat in Marbella (pay your own transport to get there), donated by Derek and Marilyn Day.

 PVADS needs your support.  Carousel is another brilliant show,

do please come to see it – you’ll be glad you did.
