Last night I watched the
final performance of Jack & The Beanstalk, and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Special mention must go to Paul Hornbogen and Mark Spanswick as the completely
over the top village gossips, Dora and Dolly, who had the audience literally
crying with laughter, Nick Mitchell Briggs as Dame Lily White, and Darren
Little as the bumbling Lord Chancellor
A short slick modern script and brightly painted scenery all helped to make
the show great fun to watch and I congratulate Alec Clapperton (Director)
and Andy Vowles (Producer) on another successful PVADS show.

Once again, PVADS provided wonderful
entertainment with their stunning performance of Jack & The Beanstalk.
The costumes were colourful, with much attention to detail. The humour was
such that children and adults alike could enjoy it. The chorus, polished
and refreshingly young danced around with confidence and grace. The cast
were well chosen, each adapting to the mode of the character with ease.
Kay Davies as Jack, an attractive principal boy, Lilly, Dora and Dolly played
by Nick Mitchell-Briggs, Paul Hornbogen and Mark Spanswick appeared to get
as much fun from performing as they gave to the audience. The talented Cuff
family deserves a mention. Jane an elegant Fairy Queen, agile Corinna as
Hugh Noe and Alexandra ideally cast as the Princess. Darren Little gave
rise to much laughter with his unique style of comedy.
Stage Manager Brian German individually thanked those who had filled responsible
roles, and presentations were made after the show. Colin Harris in his announcement
before the show dwelt briefly on the invaluable service given by the late
Tony Amor and said he would be sadly missed. Tony died on January 10th.
The performance was dedicated to his memory.
