Reviews Received for The 3 One Act Plays In April 2001

The standard of the acting in the one act plays last week was superb. The audience, small as it was sadly, was given outstanding performances by all of the cast. Each character portrayed with total conviction.  Excellent comedy, drama, even real tears from Simone in Tippers. WELL DONE to everyone involved. The PVADS are continuing to show how talented they are in all of their productions. Fantastic!

Just a few lines to congratulate PVADS on it's marvelous Spring production. Last evening was the first time I had seen the group in action and I thought you were all terrific.

Congratulations! For those who didn't attend the one act plays last week, you all missed a treat. Many of the cast were involved in more than one of the plays, each of them delivered their change of character more convincingly than a lot of professionals.

*** STAR REVIEW ***

Last week I took a friend along to the Bouverie Hall to see the three One Act Plays.  Having not seen any of these performers before, I didn't quite know what to expect.  However, what a pleasant evening it turned out to be.
The first play entitled "Tunnel Vision" was set in an underground Tube Station, and although it wasn't quite my cup of tea it was very well done, it dragged a little though.
The second play "What's For Pudding" was excellent (in my opinion the best of the three).  It centered on a bored housewife.  It was set in a young couples living room after dinner and unexpected 'dull' visitors arrived and strangely managed to liven up the couples evening.  It was hilarious, each character excelling themselves and had the audience in stitches.
The final play "Tippers" was set in a refuse tip where a group of vagrants were looking for 'pickings'.  The storyline was good as were each individual character.  The sound effects were brilliant, you actually felt you were there, you felt you could almost see the refuse lorry arriving and tipping it's load.  It was funny, yet serious and it certainly had a captivated audience.
What a shame there were as many empty seats as there were occupied. These artists need more support and encouragement as in my opinion they were on a par with the 'pros'.  I shall certainly make a date for their next production.
