OCTOBER 2006
Well, summer and Carnival are over and now our thoughts turn to Christmas…eek!!
![]()
But before we move forward, I would like to review the summer activities of
PVADS and remind you of forthcoming productions.
This very popular summer school was another huge success.
During the week the students learnt, rehearsed and performed dances, improvised
acting techniques, sketches, songs and stage fighting culminating in an energetic
show at the end of the week. The original sketches were well received and
a cameo appearance by Gerry Kunkler in the 'Save Pewsey Leisure Centre sketch'
was brave!!
Special thanks must go to my team of helpers. Alex Cuff who choreographed
the dance numbers for both the dance troupe and ensemble pieces and Darren
Little who managed to encourage ordered and well rehearsed stage fight scenes
for the battle between King Alfred's and King Guthrum's army. Plus all the
technical crew involved.
Nettie Powell - director.
Many
months of hard work by the cast and crew of Viva las Tavern came to an end
last Saturday with an outstanding, very funny and professional show enjoyed
by sell out audiences each night.
Special mention must be made about the choreographers of the dances which
were incredibly professional and the fantastic costumes which pulled the whole
show into a higher league.
Well done to Paul and John for having the vision and determination to produce
an excellent Tavern and to the cast for bringing their vision to life. (see
Reviews Page for full review).
Our
Day Out - October 26th-28th Oct
Rehearsals have been under
way for several weeks now for the forthcoming production of 'Our Day Out'
by PVADS Youth Theatre
. This play, set in Liverpool, follows the antics of a group of remedial class
children on a school 'educational' trip to Conway Castle. It has some similarities
with Albert Make us Laugh (spring play in 2005) in that there are many heartfelt
emotions that this will evoke.
There is a lot of new talent on show, the future of PVADS, so do come and
support us. Please book dates in your diaries - this musical play has humour,
pathos and lots of catchy tunes.
Tickets are £7 (£5 concessions - not Sat) and will be on sale from Tuesday
17th October from the Bouverie Hall Box Office 10-12pm, System Smart or telephone
01672 562248. .
