This event was pretty much
an experiment for us, to relieve pressure on the Musical by reducing the need
for a Tavern show. We sold over 130 tickets and the hall was full.
Thanks to Jackie Simper, Martin Clifton and their army of volunteers, the
food was generally hailed to be excellent. Thanks to all involved in that
exercise, your hard work was certainly appreciated.
The floorshow produced by Darren Little was very good with a series of high
quality and well rehearsed dance numbers, to recorded music, interspersed
with 2 songs, and three sketches, all held together by mine host Paul Hornbogen.
The floorshow was followed by the band,
"Six till Midnite". They took a firm hold on the event and gave a high energy
performance, keeping the dance floor full all the time they were playing.
It was noted by a number of our guests that there was very little opportunity
for traditional ballroom dancing.
It's the first time that PVADS have hosted such an event and it was an interesting
learning experience for us. There is room for improvement, but the experience
was generally good and we will certainly do it again in those years when we
present a musical.
Panto 2004 -
JACK & THE BEANSTALK
Auditions for the chorus and principals were held earlier this week, but at
the time of writing, the casting has not been finalised. Those who auditioned
will be contacted during the next 2 weeks, but there will be no further activity
as all our attention is focussed on the current show - The Wizard of Oz. For
those successful in getting a part, the first rehearsal will take place immediately
after the Wizard of Oz, at 3:00pm on Sunday 26th October.
