NEWSLETTER Monthly News & Info
NOVEMBER 2001
The
panto has been fully cast and we are under way for the next PVADS production.
We’ve had a couple of expensive productions so lets all help to ensure
that this show has really big ticket sales (you can tell I’m treasurer now
can’t you?). Seriously though,
not only do we need the revenue, but the quality of our shows deserves a wider
audience. Also we all work better
when playing to full houses.
Due to the
poor ticket sales for the performance within the Carnival fortnight, coupled
with the high cost of putting on a high quality show, the Tavern profits were
disappointing this year. We have
made a £50 contribution to Carnival this year, and that is well in excess
of 50% of the profits! As with
all our productions, the quality deserves a wide audience so we need to get
bums on seats.
The trip to
see Chicago was very successful and I hear that the seats were excellent. My thanks to Pete Bond who officiated in my absence.
Next up is Starlight on Thursday 6th December. The trip is already sold out, but I know of a lady in Burbage who is organising another trip to Starlight on Thursday 10th January. If you are interested, contact Enid Mitchell on (01672) 811711.
As was reported last month, two places on the PVADS committee have become vacant and two people have expressed interest in joining. Watch for further announcements. . . .
This
show was very well received and has received high praise from those who came
to see it. Popular opinion puts
it right up with the best shows we have ever staged.
If you are online, check out the reviews that have been posted on our
website.
Many
thanks and congratulations to June and all the people, on and off stage, who
contributed to this show. We
need productions like this to raise our game and remind us what we are capable
of.
This
production has so far raised £865.00 for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
There is still a little more to come and we will send off our cheque
when the final total is known. Once
again, well done everyone and a big thank you to the sponsors and to everyone
who bought a raffle ticket.
