MAY 2001

 Tavern 2001

The first ideas night was held in the Royal Oak on Thursday last.  There was a good turnout and lots of ideas were put forward.  We don't have a pianist, but Colin and Tiggy plan to use the band (who have confirmed).

The Oak was very full and noisy on Thursday, so we agreed to change the date of the second ideas night to;

Second Tavern Ideas Night - Tuesday 22nd May @ 8:00pm

More people are wanted for the chorus - all comers are welcome.  If you’d like to take part, please get a message to either Tiggy (563735) or Colin (562296).

 PVADS Web Site

If you are online, please visit the new Website that Simone has set up.  The address is shown in the header of this newsletter.

The site will be kept up to date with forthcoming events, and also with reviews of recent productions (check out what people have said about the plays).

Next Theatre Trip

I’m looking for some feedback before organising the next event.  Please see a short list of possible productions below and let me know (phone or e-mail) your preference.

 Chicago

My Fair Lady

The King and I

These are all London shows.  I know it’s a longer journey than Bristol, but you do get to see a much better production.

What with the holiday season, Carnival, Tavern and Carousel, we will not be able to squeeze it in before November.  However, with such a big group (hopefully) I need to book it as early as possible to get the best seats.  R.S.V.P. . . . . (01672 )563987     andy@selwov.freeserve.co.uk

 Spring Plays

The plays were very, very good – there was excellent feedback from all who came to see them.  Many were taken aback at the high standard and professional approach.

However, the audience figures were very disappointing.  For the three nights, we sold 22, 53 and 37 tickets respectively – well below what we expected and we expect a loss in the region of £200.

It is very sad when such a good production cannot even cover its costs.

It is important to get bums on seats and keep the revenue high so we can continue to improve our equipment and facilities and put on more challenging shows.
