Martin began his attachment with 'the boards' at school with Shakespeare plays including 'The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet and Henry IV part 1 and 2.' In the 70's he was involved in all aspects of the stage including Variety, Musicals and plays, both onstage and producing, with groups in Reading and Burghfield. Martin joined PVADS in the Eighties and he has been a regular player in Panto, Musicals, Plays and Tavern ever since. As a producer/director he has produced many shows for Pewsey Vale Amateur Dramatics Society. He has promoted the Society's involvement with the Swindon One Act Play festival. This has been a great success and it has certainly raised the scope of the society. Getting three nominations in 2002 and in 2003 winning two trophies, together with two nominations, for our entry 'A Night to Remember', this different step has certainly raised the ambitions of all concerned. He produced the well received 'Caught In The Net' (also playing a highly amusing 'Dad') and appeared as the Lion in 'The Wizard of Oz'. In 2004 he took a break from producing Pantomimne, and thus was able to to take a part in 2004's Jack & The Beanstalk. He directed a successful entry in the 2004 One Act Play Festival and produced and directed the April Play of that year. He produced and directed our 2005 Pantomime Beauty & The Beast, and once again produced a successful adult entry in the 2005 Swindon Play Festival. He also helping to co-produce and directed our April 2005 Play, Albert Make Us Laugh. He was the prime instigator for PVADS on Tour, taking One Act Plays to other venues. To produce 'Noises Off' has been a long held ambition, which, after many years of trying to get permission, has finally come to pass. Although not originally intending to be in the cast, circumstances have co-opted him. He is a member of the PVADS Committee as well as several other Committees in Pewsey. He is also on the Executive Committee of the Swindon & District Drama Guild. In his other life he has great involvement with Village Halls, being Treasurer of the Wiltshire Village Halls Association, and Vice Chairman of the National Village Halls Froum, the group responsible for lobbying Parliament on Village Hall matters.
