JUNE 2001
Following on from how we worked last year, building will start early under the direction of float master Mark Spanswick. We have chosen an ambitious theme and there will be lots of work needed to turn it into a reality. Watch this space for announcements of when building can actually start but, in the meantime, if you want to get involved, please let Mark (or any committee member) know.
Noel Hardy has produced a list of potential dates for preparing the scenes for both Tavern and Carousel. He is appealing for people to nominate which sessions they are able to work.
If you haven’t received a copy of Noel’s list, call him on (01672) 562052, email him on noel.hardy@zeronet.co.uk or check out the 'Notice Board' for details.
In an echo of the general election, there were not very many votes given to Andy as to which show he should book next. However, unlike the general election the voting was very even. From the feedback given we can now reveal that the priority order for Andy's Theatre trips is;
1) Chicago
2) The King & I
3)
My Fair Lady
Andy will make a booking on that basis (dependant on what’s available). It will be a trip to London, on a Thursday in November. Watch for details of date and cost.
A working party re-painted the floor of the stage on Sunday 10th June. Having removed the chewing gum and re-sanded the surface, the outer strip (i.e. in front of the main tabs) is stained brown, but the remainder of the stage has been painted with a black floor paint. We all hope this treatment will last a long, long time.
Rehearsals are under way ! Starting at 7:30pm on Sunday 10th June. Every Wednesday and Sunday evening from now on. . . . .see the 'What's New Page' for more info!
Rehearsals for Carousel have gone very well and we are well set up for the dormant phase while Tavern takes centre stage. As a new departure this year, three additional rehearsals have been scheduled, all on Thursday evenings. This will make a considerable difference and will help to bridge the long gap before we start again in September.
