PANTOMIME -Beauty & The Beast
The Box Office for our Pantomime
opens on Tuesday 04th January 2005, in the Bouverie Hall. The times are 10:00am
till 12:00noon, Monday through Saturday. The Bouverie Hall Box Office phone
number is (01672) 564 458, or you can contact Martin Clifton on (01672) 810
436 at other times.
As has already been publicised, we are trying a different structure, still
with 6 performances, but split across two weekends. This gives two Matinée
performances and means that no performance takes place on a night when there
is school the following day. Full price tickets cost £7.00 and concessions
are £5.00. The concessionary price is available on both Friday nights as well
as the two Matinée performances but all tickets for the Saturday evening performances
will be charged at the full price.
PVADS On Tour - Transportable
Staging
Building on the One-Act plays
that we have taken to Swindon in recent years, we have been looking at the
possibility of taking performance to other venues.
Last summer, we performed the one-act play "Tippers", in Easton Royal's village
hall, with considerable success and we hope to do more of this sort of thing
in future.
To facilitate this, PVADS have acquired transportable staging that can be
quickly set up in any venue like a small village hall that has no stage of
its own. This will give us the flexibility to work in a wide variety of venues
and build up all the skills needed to be successful in competition.
PVADS Youth wing will reprise
their performance of "A Dog's Life" and for the adults' offering, "Baby-Sitting
Kelvin" will be performed by Alexandra Cuff, Heather Talbott, Jane Cuff, Darren
Little and Andy Vowles.
Rehearsals have started and we look forward to having two polished plays all
ready for the competition in the third week of February. As in previous years,
there will be a free performance, for all comers, of both plays, in the Bouverie
Hall on Sunday 13, February.
Although "A Dog's Life" has seen three public, it will be the first, and only,
opportunity to perform "Kelvin" in front of an audience before the actual
competition. As this is a vital part of learning how to put the play across,
we all hope there is a good turnout for the free performances.
The One-Act Play competition takes place in the Arts Centre, Devizes Road,
Swindon on February 17th to 19th, 2005. There will be a draw to determine
which play appears on which day.
