DECEMBER 2003

WIZARD OF OZ

A letter has been received from the Meningitis Research Foundation (Reg. Charity No. 1091105), thanking PVADS for the contribution of £739.00. There are still some costs trickling in, but the current figures show a loss on the production of £602.17.

On top of that, we acquired and installed an additional theatrical curtain track for this production at a cost of £1383.68 (this is, of course, a permanent asset).

Panto 2004 - JACK & THE BEANSTALK

Rehearsals are going very well and this promises to be another good show.
· In his directorial debut, Alec Clapperton, has won the respect of cast and crew and is in full control.
· Work on the sets is very well advanced thanks to set designer, Nettie Powell and her team of painters.
· We have finalised the selection of all the music and pianist Carol Hendry has all the scores organised in her special folder.

As indicated above, we need to contain our costs and generate a good income from the Panto by selling lots of tickets. Posters will go up around Pewsey in the week immediately before Christmas, but we need to spread the net as widely as possible. Both A4 and A5 size posters are available. If it's appropriate, please contact me and I'll send you a supply so you can distribute them among your friends, neighbours and colleagues. Any other help or suggestions for publicising the event will be much appreciated.

SPRING PLAY - PRODUCER

Anyone interested in directing/producing the Spring Play is invited to come forward. This is open to single individuals or to collaborative teams.

With the growing sophistication and complexity of our productions it's a huge burden for one person and we have had a number of successful collaborations.

ONE ACT PLAY COMPETITION & TOUR

The audition is scheduled to take place, upstairs in the Bouverie Hall, at 7:30pm on Thursday 8th January 2004. Martin has a short-list of possible plays but the final choice has not yet been made.

It is the intention to take the play "on the road" to several local village halls so as to build up performing experience before the actual competition.

FEASTE BALL

In the years when we do "repeat" performances of Tavern on the weekend following Carnival, we share the profits. This year, there was a single "performance", which was purely a Carnival event, so all of the profit has been donated to Pewsey Carnival.

All the costs for the Feaste Ball have come in and the final profit from the event is £452.26. A cheque for £450.00 has been sent to the Pewsey Carnival Treasurer.
