By Nettie Powell Wow - what a
week!
Starting on Tuesday afternoon we had 22 enthusiastic youngsters
working through dances, songs, sketches and jokes to put on a show on the Friday
evening. On Friday we had 2 full rehearsals (with sound but no lights) and felt
nervously ready to perform. Robert Bottoms literally came in cold with only one
of Nettie famous lists to adhere to. And then the audience started to arrive -
and arrive and arrive!!! We hastily extended the hall to full capacity - we eventually
had 120 people seated, enjoying their punch and peanuts!!
And what a show!
- the children were amazing - each and eveery one of them delivering lines perfectly,
dancing to Alex Cuff's choreography like consummate professionals and extracting
every ounce of comedy from the original (and not so original) scripts. It was
fantastic - I don't know who enjoyed it most - the audience or the children!!
For 2 ½ days work - the results were just incredible.
Many thanks to Steve
and Martin, Alex and Lottie who helped all week and to Colin for a last minute
back stage appearance! There are certainly some talented youngsters out there
who will be eager to be involved in future productions
Tickets for the Feaste
Ball are now on sale from Head and Robins priced at £25. A vegetarian menu is
available.s.
