NEWSLETTER Monthly News & Info
AUGUST 2002
We have the opportunity to get £40 tickets for £25 each if we book (and pay) before 23rd August. If I can get a party of 40 people that will come in at under £35 each.
It’s an English National Ballet performance in the Coliseum, London. It’s a new production that is tipped to be the hot ticket in the West End this year, and we can get in on the ground floor if we move quickly. If you’re interested call me on 01672 563987.
As I revealed last month, the theme this year will be Camberwick Green, Chigley and Trumpton. If you are interested in being on the float, please contact Tiggy Holmes on 01672 563735.
As we now own the trailer outright, we are building a permanent infrastructure in the form of uprights and a roof. Mark Spanswick and Colin Harris are the key people in that exercise, working at weekends in the Coopers field. If you are interested in helping them I’m sure they’d be delighted to hear from you.
Rehearsals are well under way for this year’s show. Performance dates are shown in the panel opposite and tickets will go on sale in the Bouverie Hall at 10:00am on Saturday 31st August.
You will recall that in order to combat falling attendance on the Saturday within Carnival, we have reduced the cost of tickets for that performance (£6.50) and will not serve a meal. The two remaining performances (after Carnival) will be the same as ever, with a meal and the same ticket price (£10.00) as last year.
It has been brought to my attention that Harry Fox has a part in Devizes Wharf Theatre’s production of The Merchant of Venice. Performances are at 7:30pm on Saturday 14th September through to Saturday 21st September. Tickets go on sale from August 26th.
Our website, built by Simone, has developed over the years (the URL is shown at the top of this newsletter). It’s in a free location which has a strict size limit and that prevents it from being developed any further.
The committee has agreed to pay for a larger location and Simone is working on a new website to take advantage of the additional facilities. Look out for an announcement when the new website is launched.
